What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am linking up with Covered in Glitter and Glue for What I'm Loving Wednesday. I am here to let you know what I am loving this Wednesday.

The thing that I am loving most this Wednesday is the fact that I am on vacation enjoying the mountains! I am grateful to have this relaxing trip right before going back to school.

I am also loving all the back to school shopping I have been doing lately. I have been getting a lot of great deals! Especially this past weekend at Office Max. I love their Teacher Appreciation days!

And finally I am loving The SLANT Box! Have you heard about it? I just discovered it! Head over to Lessons With Coffee to learn more! I signed up for this month!

There you have it! My short and sweet What I'm Loving Wednesday.

Tutorial Tuesday #5

I am hoping that this posts correctly since I am still away on vacation and it has been scheduled to post. I have determined the fate of Tutorial Tuesday and am here to announce it while I am also providing my tutorial for the week.

Are you ready?

Okay; I have determined that I will continue Tutorial Tuesdays, but it will only be once a month (the third Tuesday of the month). I will be turning it in to a linky for anyone who would like to join in. Our first linky Tutorial Tuesday will be August 20th. I hope you can join me in sharing how to do things.

Here is my Tutorial Tuesday. I am showing you how to make a portable word wall.

This tutorial is a short one.

Supplies needed:
~Metal rings
~3"x5" notecards
~3"x5" cover pages
~Hole punch
~Command hooks

Step 1:
Create what you want the cover of your portable word wall to look like and print them out to be the size of your notecards (I used 3"x5")

Step 2:
Punch holes in a corner of all covers and notecards (I had a lot of notecards so I put 50 on each letter ring).

Step 3:
Attach the cover and notecards together using a metal ring.

Step 4:
Attach hooks to the wall.

Step 5:
Hang each bunch of cards on a hook.

And there you have it. Now you can make your own portable word wall.

Monday Made It (Last One for July)!

I am hoping that this Monday Made It finds you since I will be off on my way to the good ol' Smoky Mountains! I am ready to enjoy some beautiful mountain views this week! I am linking up with Tara over at 4th Grade Frolics for the weekly Monday Made It.

Here are mine:

#1:
My portable word wall. I am ready to get words going on these.

#2:
WBT Super Improver cards to go along with my robot theme. They get a new part of the robot for every level they achieve.

#3:
My job assignment tags. I have the jobs on several different versions of robots and they have velcro on the back.

#4:
My birthday board; it's just waiting for the gears containing the students name and birthday. That will have to wait until I get the lovely student list.

#5:
My Welcome bunting banner in my robot theme. This is just outside of my classroom.

#6:
My upgraded wreath. I took the little children foam pieces off and added robots in their place. I also added a robot to the center with my name on it!

There you have it; my Monday Made Its for the week!

A Sneak Peek At My Progress

I have been working for a little bit each day in my room the past few days. I am heading off on vacation tomorrow so the work will be put off for a few days. When I return from vacation I will have about a week and a half to work on my room. I still have so much to do, but here is a peak at what I have done so far!

This is my portable word wall set up and ready to be used, and some of my student lockers with their Daily 5 book bins on top and WBT Super Improvers cards on their lockers.

Here we have my CAFE board, my Birthday Board, and my WBT rules.

My bright and colorful cursive letters and
my READ letters above my book recommendation bulletin board.

My genre posters scattered throughout my wall that my bookshelves are along.

New door decorations: My bright colorful robot wreath and my robot Welcome bunting banner.
Sorry about the dark pictures, the lights were off in the hallway.

I am linking up with Covered in Glitter and Glue once again for a What I'm Loving Wednesday!
So what am I loving this week?

#1:
I am loving that I am going on vacation next week! We are going to the mountains! Off to Gatlinburg, TN, again! We love it there. I can't wait! I'm including some pictures from last year.

Sorry about the first picture being sideways.

#2:
This is a piggyback off of #1. I am loving the fact that I have ideas for my blog posts for every day that I am gone. Now I just have to get the posts all typed up and schedule them to be posted.

#4:
I am loving that I have my Back to School Blogger Exchange package boxed up and ready to be shipped out! It was so much fun shopping for my buddy! I spent more than I was supposed to so a few of the things I bought had to go to my classroom collection, oh well! ;)
Here is my package all ready to go. I don't want to reveal what is inside yet just in case my buddy is reading this post.
Here is what it looks like inside! Lots of bright colored tissue paper to make opening the package so much better! And a little card!

There is a special label on each side of the box! I just could not send a plain box!

And #5:
I am absolutely loving that I have 230 followers!
As I promised, part of my celebration is a free item everyday. I am a little late posting this so my free item will remain free until when I wake up tomorrow morning! So go grab it now! I would love it if you left some feedback if you download!

It's That Time Again--Another Tutorial Tuesday! Plus a Gift to Celebrate My Followers!

I am here to bring you another edition of my Tutorial Tuesday, but before I do I have some questions for you. I am trying to decide the next step for my Tutorial Tuesdays. Next week is the last guaranteed one since I said I would try for the month of July. Now it's your turn to help determine what happens starting in August.

Here are my questions:
1) Would you like to see Tutorial Tuesdays continue?
2) If you would like it to continue, how often do you think it should take place?
3) If you would like it to continue, what would you like to see offered as a tutorial?
4) Would you like to participate? (I could always make it a linky)
5) If you want to participate how often should we do it during the school year?

Thanks for all of the help. I will consider your feedback before making my final decision.

So now I bring you this week's Tutorial Tuesday. Yesterday I posted on my Monday Made It post my new bulletin boards that I got the idea from Going Nutty With Miss Squirrels. Today I am going to show you how I made mine.

Step one:
Gather the following supplies:
~insulation boards (found for around $10 at home improvement store)
~flat bed sheets (or fabric)
~scissors
~stapler (and staples)
~Scotch 3M Extreme Mounting Tape (I recommend one roll per board; unlike my thinking of one roll per two boards)

Step two:
If you plan to make a smaller version you need to cut your insulation board to size. Do this by scoring it, folding it in half, and then scoring the other side. This will give you a pretty clean cut.

I cut one of mine in half; the rest remained full size.

Step three:
If you are using sheets you will need to rip the seam at the top of the sheet so that you have some extra length to work with. If you are using fabric make sure you get it long enough to cover the board (it is 4'x8', but needs extra length to wrap around the back.
This first picture shows the original seam and the second picture shows it after it has been ripped. I would recommend using a seam ripper. I did not have one at school so I used a push pin and scissors.

You will also need to cut it in half if you are doing a half size board.

Step four:
Lay the sheet (or fabric) flat on the ground and place the insulation on the sheet. Make sure that the printing is on the side that you can see. You do not want it against the fabric because it will show through.

Step five:
Staple the sheet/fabric to the back side of the insulation board. I recommend a lot of staples to insure the fabric stays as you pull from the other side. I do the shorter ends first and then the longer ends.

Step six:
Place strips of your mounting tape on the back. This is where I realized I did not buy enough mounting tape. I recommend that you make the strip cover more area on the board (mine still held, but I did later secure the top since it was leaning forward a little).

The red strips are the pieces of mounting tape.

Step seven:
Peel off the backing of the tape and carefully place on the wall. I was able to use the lines on my wall to try to place it as straight as possible. This would be much easier with another set of hands (my hubby was at work so I was on my own for this one)

Step eight:
I haven't completed this one yet so I don't have pictures, but it is to decorate. Add whatever you are putting on your boards and then you are finished!

Simple as that! I am loving my new boards and can't wait to decorate them!

Now I promised that I had an announcement today to thank my wonderful 200+ followers. You guys are all so wonderful!
